In 2001-2005 a project “Community Based Economic Development (CBED)” was implemented in two district of Nepal and two districts of Uttarakhand, India to develop a cooperative based poverty alleviation and income enhancement model of poor households in the hill area. During this project, we have developed a cooperative based economic development model. To spread the outcomings and success of the project, Center for Business and Entrepreneurial Development (CBED) was registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 on December 28, 2005. Over the last 15 years, CBED is advocating the issues of economic development, health and nutrition through various interventions and projects. Since its inception, CBED has advocated and thrived a cooperative movement in Uttarakhand by liasioning with the State Government and established more than 100 cooperatives and federations in Rudraprayag, Champawat, Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh and Tehri district of Uttarakhand, India.
